Redfield Baseball, Softball Leagues Enjoy Grand Slam Summer Season!

August 20, 2025

Batter up! The Redfield Leagues scored big this summer with enthusiastic crowds and plenty of opportunities to showcase the bat-crackin’ skills of our talented youth!

In addition to our talented baseball players, we also saw the introduction of a new sister league: the Redfield Softball League!

Both enjoyed a tremendously successful season, including a few major highlights!

Redfield Baseball League

“Youth ball players from Redfield, Hitchcock-Tulare/Doland, and Frankfort programs came together for the 5th RBL season,” said Redfield Parks and Recreation director Bennett Osborn.

To encourage even competition, age groups were divided across four teams, with a head coach and assistant coach at the helm of each.

“All coaches are current players for either the Redfield Dairy Queen, Redfield Clay Kiser Post 92, Redfield Muskrats, Redfield Flickertails, Redfield Pheasants, or Redfield Knockouts,” said Osborn.

This included:

  • Bennett Osborn & Tate Neuharth (Atomic Oysters, Chihuahuas, Crawdads)
  • Owen Osborn & Jacksan Rude (Fiddlesticks, Bubblegum Blasters, Velo Raptors)
  • Peyton Osborn & Hunter Binger (Thunderbirds, Nukes, Killer Crocs)
  • Camden Osborn & Chace Odland (Ghost Presidents, Monster Mashers, Soul Train)

“The 5th RBL Season welcomed 87 players to the North Field at the South Diamonds. Coaches and spectators noted marked improvement in the boys from Game 1 to Game 6,” said Osborn.

He also noted the following highlights:

The 8U season stood out for great defensive plays. One that really made an impact was Wes Nowell making a fully extended diving catch, going back glove side on a soft line drive!
10U was highlighted by some hard-hit balls driven over the outfielders' heads that resulted in home runs. Jhet Betten clobbered one in Game 6, and Cael Jessen had two during the season!
12U saw an explosion in offense with the introduction of USSSA-certified bats. The league batting average soared over .450, and 179 runs were scored, up from 116 from last year. Spencer Evans hit the first-ever over-the-fence home run in RBL history in Game 6!

“The RBL season was a blast, and we are already excited for Season 6!” said Osborn.

Redfield’s New Sister League!

Just as exciting as the RBL season was the introduction of its new sister league, the Redfield Softball League, which had 67 players!

“The inaugural Redfield Softball League Season lived up to the excitement!” said SL Commissioner, Ella Rude-Peterson. “We had some extra-inning games; those were always exhilarating!”

He also noted the following highlights:

  • In the 8U, the Sea Unicorns thrived, with 3 players accounting for 50 hits.
  • The Glaminators in 11U dropped their first game of the season before winning the rest of the way to win their league.
  • The 14U saw the Dancing Divans start out 3-0; it looked like they were going to dance to a championship, but the Fluffy Unicorns, who started 0-2, won their last 4 games, which, with their superior run differential, earned them the first 14U championship in RSL history!

Outstanding Athletes!

We’re also giving a huge shout-out to the following award winners in each league. These amazing athletes were voted on by the eight coaches and included:
